Informing Relatives of Neonatal Intensive Care Care Patients

The baby's relatives are informed by the Neonatal Intensive Care Responsible Physician about the baby's general condition and treatment when the patient first goes to bed.
The patient's relatives are informed about the patient's needs by the nurse, and information about the medical condition is provided by the physician.
Information about the patient's medical condition is not given to anyone other than the patient's guardian.
The information to be given to the relatives of the patient who died in the Intensive Care Unit is made by the patient's physician. When necessary, a security guard and/or another healthcare personnel accompanies the physician giving information.
When there is a sudden change in the patient's condition, the patient's relative is contacted by phone and information about his/her medical condition is given face to face by the physician.
Information will be provided every day and as needed during the baby's admission and between 11:00 and 12:00 on weekdays. The notification method may change depending on the intensity of the intensive care service and in case of emergency.
During weekends, nights and emergency admissions, the specialist physician on duty informs the baby's relatives.
There is no need for the baby's relatives to constantly wait in the patient waiting room. In unexpected situations regarding the baby, the baby's relative is called by phone and informed by the doctor.
Care is taken to ensure that the information is understandable by the baby's relative.
Relatives of the patient who want to get information outside the information hour must wait until the doctor is available.
Informing the baby's relative is done in the information room at the entrance of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or at the bedside.
